Yukonjak's Ernie, CGN, TT, HIC. Ernie was my 'first' weight pull dog. Completely untrained, I thought it would be 'fun' to enter him in a weightpull as he was in reasonable shape. Once in harness, he seemed to have fun and pulled a few hundred pounds. The following year, his second pull, he pulled almost 1300 pounds, winning against about 50 dogs, and won the entire event! Ernie, nearing 10, still competes and has collected about 20 wins over his 'career.' His most special title will ALWAYS be 'pet' :) That said, ALL my other Alaskan Malamutes required training for weight pull ...

Dog Packs!Newly-designed dog packs are now available - Made in Canada - and I helped on the design. There is a very big problem finding dog packs for larger dogs which carry required weights for packing. These packs will fit an average of 50 to 150 pounds and come in three sizes. The ones on my dogs (Ernie and Tinker) represent 'medium' and are available in black/red and also in bright orange.

Sledding, scootering harnesses, weight pull harness, for sale
Are you looking for where to buy a sledding harness - or weightpull harness - or 'mushing' or 'husky' harnesses for dogs? This Canadian Web site has harnesses for dogs and especially weight pulling or sled dogs. Each harness type is listed - DOG SLEDDING HARNESSES, and DOG WEIGHT PULL HARNESSES - and are available for purchase, in addition to CUSTOMIZED WEIGHTPULL HARNESSES PACKAGES and CUSTOMIZED SLEDDING / SCOOTERING HARNESS PACKAGES and SKIJORING HARNESS PACKAGES.
There are many sports, founded on traditional sled dogs like the Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Samoyed, and Alaskan Husky available but the 'sled dog' needs proper equipment, and beginning with the harness, to participate in them. Many other breeds - Newfoundland dogs, Retrievers, Labs, Poodles and many cross breeds excel at these activities but need harness sizes suitable to their weight and structure. There is a full selection of harnesses for large dogs as well as harnesses for small dogs and they can be shipped anywhere - Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec or the East Coast. Shipping to the US is costly and consequently I rarely sell to the USA. Competition weight pulling harnesses are for pulling weight for weight pull competitions, work or a heavy sledge and have a spreader bar at the back of the harness. A Siwash harness is suitable for carts or small wagons. Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies were the original sled dogs, with Alaskan Malamutes as the main freight pulling dogs, on sledge, in the Arctic and through heavy snow. Modern times however has seen the advent of 'weight pull competitions' - for all breeds - and they can be a interesting activity for your dog. Pitbulls, Newfoundland dogs, other bull dog breeds are major weight pull competitors. Alaskan Huskies are the main sledding dog for modern races - built for speed and endurance. This business is oriented toward people who wish for their 'pets' to have good-quality harnesses and sledding equipment of correct fit and who may need help in sizing, training, and finding events. | Almost all dog sledding and weight pull harness and harness kits prices listed on this Web site INCLUDE shipping ($10 - $20) and 3% PayPal transaction fee (about $3 on every $100). They are ALL cheaper by around $10 (upward of $20 for larger heavier packages) if you wish to pick harnesses or other equipment from me, or pay with cash and NOT use shipping or PayPal. Sled Dog Central has many sled dog harness and training resources race schedules, regions, etc if you are new to weight pull or sledding. I compete at many working events, but it has always been for 'fun' and to enjoy my dogs as pets. I have four purebred Alaskan Malamutes and they've won many competitions in weight pull, sledding, and dryland racing - you can see pictures at Ontario Dog Sports of my Bert and Ernie at a weight pull competition. See the CONTACT form if you have any questions.
NEW: I also carry a full range of freeze dry (and some dehydrated) foods for humans from Shelf Reliance - http://campingmealscanada.weebly.com/ - if you are interested. Very affordable and factory-shipped to anywhere in Canada! |
